After Penn, I went straight into investment banking and then private equity. I loved the challenge, but I missed creating physical work I could hold in my hands and I craved something more tangible.

Burnt out and searching for a creative outlet, my boyfriend gave me a sewing machine — and that gift changed everything.

I fell in love with design and making my own dresses that I would wear to work. Girls at work started asking if I could make dresses for them too because they wanted a better workwear brand for women.

Right now, workwear feels either too masculine, uninspired, or completely impractical: everything is wrinkled, dry-clean-only, or there is no brand creating clothes that truly fit busy women's schedules.
